Lower Body Lift in Houston, TX

Significant weight loss is a cause for celebration and an incredible accomplishment. Unfortunately, massive weight loss often results in loose, hanging skin on the abdomen, hips, thighs, and buttocks. This skin is unsightly and can be uncomfortable when it rubs together. Other patients may have a genetic predisposition for thigh laxity and fat deposition with resultant discomfort or embarrassment in wearing certain lower body apparel.

Surgery is the only way to remove this excess skin. A lower body lift consists of one or more skin excision procedures to sculpt and tighten your body contours.

What Is a Lower Body Lift?

A lower body lift is a comprehensive body contouring procedure designed to reshape and tighten your lower body, addressing redundant, lax skin that often develops after significant weight loss or aging. The surgery is designed to eliminate excess skin and tissue around the abdomen, hips, flanks, buttocks, and outer thighs in a single procedure. By removing sagging skin and tightening and repositioning underlying tissue, a lower body lift can create smoother contours, improve body proportions, and restore a firmer appearance to your silhouette.

Many patients undergo a lower body lift after bariatric surgery or major weight fluctuations when diet and exercise cannot correct loose, hanging skin. In addition to improving appearance, the procedure may also help reduce skin irritation and discomfort caused by excess tissue.

What Are the Benefits of a Lower Body Lift?

Comprehensive Body Contouring

One of the most significant benefits of a lower body lift is its ability to reshape multiple areas of your body at once. Rather than focusing on only the abdomen or thighs, the procedure addresses your lower body circumferentially, including the abdomen, hips, flanks, buttocks, and outer thighs. A lower body lift eliminates the loose, hanging skin that can hide the weight loss results you’ve worked hard for, giving you a smoother shape and restoring more balanced proportions.

Improved Comfort and Mobility

If you have excess skin, you may experience chafing, skin irritation, rashes, and discomfort during exercise or daily activities. By removing excess skin and tightening tissues across your lower body, a lower body lift can make movement more comfortable, making it easier to exercise and participate in activities that were previously made uncomfortable by extra skin.

Increased Confidence

A lower body lift can dramatically improve your confidence by helping you feel more comfortable with your appearance. The improved proportions and smoother curves that result from a lower body lift can leave you feeling more confident while wearing swimwear or fitted clothing, as well as in social situations. For patients who have worked hard to lose weight, a lower body lift is an ideal “finishing touch” for their body transformation.

Am I a Candidate for a Lower Body Lift?

Good candidates for a lower body lift do not smoke, are close to their ideal weight, are in good overall health, and have realistic expectations of their results. Ideal candidates for a lower body lift are people who have lost a considerable amount of weight and now:

  • Have hanging, flabby skin
  • Have localized fat pockets
  • Experience chafing and rubbing of the skin
  • Want tighter, firmer contours
  • Desire a wider selection of clothing
  • Want a rounder, fuller derrière

What Does a Lower Body Lift Include?

A lower body lift is a combination of body contouring procedures that address tissue laxity in the lower body. It may include a thigh lift, buttock lift, tummy tuck, or liposuction. These procedures are performed alone or in combination to sculpt and enhance your physical contour.
A lower body lift is performed under general anesthesia with the assistance of a certified anesthesiologist who will remain present throughout the procedure to monitor your vitals and ensure your safety.

Bikini Thigh Lift

Unlike many plastic surgeons, Dr. Kronowitz performs inner and outer thigh lifts using a hidden incision. Other surgeons perform thigh lift surgery with an incision on the inside of the thigh that extends from the groin to the knee, which is visible in shorts or exercise and swimming apparel. Some surgeons will even perform a belt lipectomy, which is an unsightly circumferential incision all around the waist. A belt lipectomy is not for lower body lifting or thigh lifting; it is an old surgical procedure that is used for obese patients with multiple medical problems after massive weight loss to remove excess skin only. A belt lipectomy is a functional procedure and should not be confused with aesthetic surgery.

Dr. Kronowitz has developed a revolutionary thigh lift technique called the Bikini Thigh Lift that reduces thigh circumference and removes excess, sagging skin. The Bikini Thigh Lift is a specialized technique that tightens and smooths the upper thighs while keeping incisions discreetly hidden within the bikini line. The Bikini Thigh Lift also reduces the appearance of cellulite and lifts the buttocks, improving the waistline.

Buttock Lift

A buttock lift, also known as a Brazilian Butt Lift, restores volume, shape, and projection to the buttocks.

A Brazilian Butt Lift is a fat transfer procedure that harvests fat from the abdomen, thighs, back, or arms and transfers it to the buttocks. This strategically injected fat increases the size, shape, and projection of your behind, improving contours.

Buttock implants are also an excellent method to restore volume and shape to the buttocks. Unlike fat transfer, implants do not require a large amount of excess body fat and are not reabsorbed by the body, as can occur after fat transfer procedures. Buttock implants are not only for young patients looking for a large, protuberant buttock; increasingly, middle-aged women who want to restore the shape and volume associated with aging are choosing natural, contoured buttock implants.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck surgery is commonly performed in a lower body lift to restore firmness and definition to the abdomen. This procedure removes loose skin and tightens the underlying muscles that may have stretched due to weight fluctuations or pregnancy. Lower body lifting can be performed in patients who have had prior tummy tuck surgery.

Liposuction

Liposuction is included in nearly all body lift procedures to remove excess fat. Even after significant weight loss, pockets of fat resistant to diet and exercise can persist. Dr. Kronowitz exclusively uses power-assisted liposuction, the state-of-the-art in liposuction surgery.

Liposuction can reduce the size of the abdomen, hips, thighs, lower back, flanks, and buttocks.

What Can I Expect From My Lower Body Lift Recovery?

A lower body lift is an outpatient procedure, and you can return home to begin your recovery period shortly after the anesthesia wears off.

The extent of your recovery period will depend on the combination of procedures that you choose. Regardless, you can expect to develop bruising, swelling, tenderness, and soreness in the treatment areas. Compression garments/dressings may be wrapped around these treated areas, and you can minimize post-operative pain with prescribed pain medication.

You will want to take it easy for one to two weeks. We suggest taking leisurely walks to encourage blood flow, but avoid straining your body.

Most patients return to work and their day-to-day activities after two weeks, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least six weeks.

When Will I See My Lower Body Lift Results?

Your lower body lift results will be noticeable immediately after the procedure, but will continue to improve and define as the bruising and swelling subside and the contours take on their final shape.

You can expect slimmer lines and firmer body contours for years to come. While these procedures provide long-lasting results, they are not considered to be permanent because they are dependent on you maintaining your results. You can prolong the quality of these by keeping a stable weight.

How Much Does a Lower Body Lift Cost?

A lower body lift is a comprehensive body contouring procedure tailored to your specific needs and desired results. The total cost of this surgery will vary significantly depending on several factors, including the extent of the surgery and the complexity of the procedures required for your personalized thigh lift surgery.

Dr. Kronowitz will provide you with an accurate cost estimate once your surgical plan has been established.
