Fat Transfer to the Face

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Houston, Bellaire, Kingwood, The Woodlands and Cypress, TX

Fat Transfer to the Face

Facial fat gradually disappears with age, sun damage, and certain lifestyle choices like smoking.

Fat transfer to the face restores facial volume by taking fat from the body and moving it to the areas of the face that are lacking fullness. When fat is combined with the patient’s stem cells, patients can enjoy a gentle lifting effect and the restoration of youthful facial contours.

Dr. Kronowitz personally performs high-volume full-face fat transfer in Houston, Texas.

Candidates for Fat Transfer to the Face

Fat transfer to the face restores lost facial volume and returns a more youthful complexion. Not every woman is a candidate for fat transfer to the face alone. Women who are considering this procedure have good skin and tissue elasticity, do not smoke, are in good overall health, have enough fat to harvest, and have realistic expectations of their surgical outcome.

Fat Transfer to the Face Benefits

Facial fat transfer can:

  • Restore volume to the cheeks, chin, temples, lips, forehead, jawline, and nasolabial folds
  • Be an alternative to facelift surgeryeyelid surgery, or brow lift surgery
  • Provide longer-lasting fullness than dermal fillers or BOTOX® Cosmetic
  • Slim and tone the harvesting areas

About Fat Transfer to the Face

Fat transfer to the face is a multi-step procedure that is performed under anesthesia.

During this procedure, fat is:

  • Harvested
  • Purified and mixed with stem cells
  • Injected into various regions of the face

Preparation for Fat Transfer to the Face

A thorough consultation with Dr. Kronowitz is essential to your fat transfer procedure. During this meeting, Dr. Kronowitz will:

  • Discuss your goals and expectations
  • Evaluate your skin condition and extent of volume loss
  • Take measurements and photos
  • Determine if you are a candidate for fat transfer to the face
  • Recommend combination procedures, if necessary
  • Identify where the fat will be harvested from
  • Develop a surgical plan

Before their fat transfer treatment, patients should stop smoking and taking medications or herbal supplements that thin the blood.

Fat Harvesting

Fat is harvested from the patient’s abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, or back. Dr. Kronowitz uses gentle liposuction techniques during this process so that he can preserve the integrity of the fat cells.

Fat Transfer

Dr. Kronowitz performs the Houston full face fat transfer. Once the fat has been extracted, purified, and combined with the patient’s stem cells, it is added to the:

  • Forehead
  • Eye region
  • Cheeks
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Lip region
  • Jawline

Complementary Procedures

While a fat transfer to the face can be performed as a standalone procedure for women looking to enhance their facial volume, it can also be combined with facial surgeries to improve the results of those procedures.

Fat transfer to the face cannot address skin or muscle laxity. Therefore, patients who experience such laxity on the lower face would benefit from a facelift, and patients who experience laxity on the eyes or forehead may benefit from eyelid surgery or a brow lift.

A full-face fat transfer is performed during every facelift procedure.

Recovering from Fat Transfer to the Face

Fat transfer to the face is an outpatient procedure, and patients will return home shortly following the treatment. Bandages and dressings may be wrapped around the harvesting site. You may experience bruising, swelling, redness, and some discomfort in the harvesting and injection sites. Any discomfort can be alleviated with cold compresses and oral pain medication.

You should rest with your head upright to promote blood circulation, reduce swelling, and enhance comfort. Most patients require one to two weeks away from work and their normal activities. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for four to six weeks.

Results

You will start to notice the results of your fat transfer to the face immediately following the injection; however, these results will adjust and fine-tune as the bruising and swelling subside, and the fat settles into place.

Not all of the transferred fat will survive. Dr. Kronowitz injects a higher volume of fat into the face with the expectation that not all of the fat will remain.

The results of your fat transfer to the face will last for many years; however, facial aging and volume loss may continue to occur. Some patients undergo additional fat transfer treatments to maintain facial fullness. Patients can help prolong the quality of their results by staying out of the sun, maintaining a stable weight, hydrating the skin, and following a healthy diet.

How Much Does Fat Transfer to the Face Cost in Houston, TX?

Fat transfer to the face is highly customized. The total cost of your procedure will vary depending on the amount of fat being harvested and injected, the number of treatment areas, any surgical combinations, and factors such as anesthesia fees, and facility fees.

At Kronowitz Plastic Surgery, the cost of fat transfer to the face may differ based on the above factors.
